On December 27, 2024, 107 women filed a new lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court accusing former OB-GYN Dr. Barry J. Brock of sexual misconduct and medical abuse during their care. These plaintiffs join 60 former patients who had already brought similar legal actions against Brock in the previous year. The lawsuits allege that Brock engaged in inappropriate and medically unjustifiable behavior that in some cases led to lasting physical complications.

Dr. Barry J. Brock, 74, was part of the Cedars-Sinai physician network until 2018 and retained hospital privileges there until mid-2024. He has previously denied all allegations of impropriety and did not respond to recent requests for comment.
The lawsuit asserts that Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and other medical practices were aware of Brock’s alleged misconduct for decades but allowed him to continue practicing. It claims the institution “received numerous complaints” about Brock’s “sexually exploitative and abusive behavior,” dating back as far as 1979. Yet, according to the filing, he was permitted to continue treating patients at Cedars-Sinai until August 2024.

According to Cedars-Sinai, they suspended Brock’s hospital privileges in July 2024 after receiving “concerning complaints” from former patients and fully terminated his privileges a few months later. A spokesperson for Cedars-Sinai emphasized that the alleged behavior is completely against the institution’s core values and confirmed that the matter has been reported to the California Medical Board.

The lawsuit details disturbing accusations of sexual misconduct during medical exams. Multiple women claim that Brock unnecessarily groped their breasts and genitals under the pretense of medical necessity. Over a dozen women reported that he fondled their clitorises during procedures. Three women alleged that he used medical instruments in an inappropriate and violating manner, sometimes accompanied by lewd comments. Additionally, several patients said that he conducted vaginal examinations without wearing gloves—a practice listed by the Federation of State Medical Boards as a clear example of sexual impropriety.

The plaintiffs argue that these acts were not only medically unjustified but deeply traumatic, and that both Dr. Brock and the institutions he worked for must be held accountable. While Brock continues to deny any wrongdoing, the growing number of accusations underscores a pattern of alleged abuse and systemic failure to protect patients over several decades.
