More than 500 former patients have filed lawsuits accusing former gynecologist Barry Brock of sexually abusing them over nearly four decades while practicing at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and in private practice. The lawsuits allege a pattern of inappropriate examinations, including ungloved vaginal and anal penetration, unnecessary intimate touching, and other conduct that patients say had no legitimate medical purpose. Several plaintiffs were minors when the alleged abuse began.
At least a dozen former patients claim they reported Brock’s conduct to Cedars-Sinai staff, physicians, nurses, or its patient services hotline as early as the 1980s. According to the lawsuits, many complaints were ignored, dismissed, or never investigated, allowing Brock to continue treating patients for decades. Some women said they were told his behavior was "normal" or that other complaints had already been made against him.
Cedars-Sinai revoked Brock’s hospital privileges in 2024 following what it described as "concerning complaints" but has declined to disclose whether it knew of earlier allegations, citing privacy laws. In 2025, Brock surrendered his California medical license rather than contest a Medical Board accusation of negligent care.
Brock has denied all allegations through his attorney. The civil lawsuits seek to hold both Brock and Cedars-Sinai accountable, alleging the medical center failed to protect patients despite repeated warnings spanning almost 40 years.
